Russian Revolution: An uprising in Russian against the Tsar in which he was taken away from the throne. Later, Provisional Government was established, but from this revolution grew the Bolsheviks.
Bolsheviks: A group of people who took control of Russia after the fall of the Tsar and Provisional Government. They had communist practices and slowly brought Russia a better social and economic life.
Guomindang: They were an anticommunist organization that was against the CCP. They tried to take out communism in China, but they were defeated by the Japanese.
Chinese Revolution: This was a peasant uprising in China. The Chinese Revolution was mainly run through the hands of an organization called the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Mao Zedong:He was the leader of the Chinese Communist Organization. He had victory after the war with Japan.
Building Socialism: Socialism was built in both China and the Soviet Union. Their government was established from a Communist regime.
Stalin: He was the successor of Lenin in the Soviet Union. Stalin forced collectivization of agriculture, a program established to help Russia in their struggle.
Zhenotdel: This was the women's department established for women to participate in feminist movements.
Collectivization: This was a system established to allow peasants a better opportunity. The land wasn't owned by the rich class, but by the government, being the CCP at the time.
Cultural Revolution: This was a struggle mainly in China to get rid of capitalism.
Great Purges/ Terror: Many people were killed during this time because they were thought to have betrayed Communist ideals.
Cuban Missile Crisis: The Soviet Union armed Cuba with missiles that posed a threat to the U.S. An agreement was made saying that the Soviet Union had to take back that artillery and the U.S. wouldn't have to seize control of Cuba.
Nikita Khrushchev: He became the leader of the Soviet Union once the previous leader, Stalin, had passed away. He claimed that Stalin had done many wrong things during his time to the people that he was supposed to be protecting.
Mikhail Gorbachev: He created the end to Communism after he became leader in 1985. The end of Communism in the Soviet Union was achieved through the struggle to preserve socialism.
Deng Xiaoping: he attempted to regain the nations stability by creating many new reforms and also by having western ideas offered to the people.
Perestroika/ Glasnost: The Perestroika was a program that was launched in Russia to try and make the economy better. The Glasnost was a type of system that gave more freedom to Russians.
